ACNE LIGHT TREATMENT

ACNE LIGHT TREATMENT

PDT FOR RESISTANT ACNE

Photodynamic Acne Treatment (PDT) is another effective way to control acne and clear trouble skin. The process involves the application of a photosensitizing agent, Levulan, to your skin. The Levulan, which is a clear painless solution, is applied and left on your skin for 15-60 minutes. It is activated with a specific wavelength of light that takes 16-40 minutes. The Levulan is absorbed by active cells like acne sebaceous gland, making the targeted cells more sensitive to light.

Unlike many other treatment methods, PDT does not require serious oral medications or long term dosing of antibiotics that demand strict compliance. We advise 2-3 treatments at 2-3 week intervals to obtain optimal results. Exceptionally severe cases may require additional sessions for the most complete control.
